[Book Notes] A Wild Sheep Chase
Loss is the core feeling of this book. Loss of a best friend. Loss of a business partner. Loss of a girlfriend. Loss of a cat. Loss of purpose in life. It's immensely heavy.
Humor matters here. The book had darkness, but moments of levity through humor. I was hilariously invested at times, especially in small details about seemingly random things — like the ears of a young woman.
"Listlessness" may not be the perfect word, but I mean the sense of numbness and non-reality that give the characters a kind of detached unreality. Even so, I found myself developing deep feelings for them because I know them now through the protagonist's view and through the flow of the novels.
Romance: I found myself getting enamored with the romantic progression of the protagonist and his girlfriend. The exchange between them was what I highlighted most.
