[Book Notes] Hear the Wind Sing
Murakami was different from what I expected.
The novel is mostly centered around a few weeks in August of the author's 21st year. It's beautiful, but I'm not sure why. It has amazing dialogue. The main character remains nameless, although he seems to be the author himself. The dialogue is short and punchy.
I'd say the tone is generally gloomy, yet I was enthralled by its measured calm. It seemed everywhere you turned there was the phrase "those good old days."
I was most enthralled by the emerging, unlikely, and downright depressing relationship forming between the protagonist and the woman he was interested in. The whole development was beautiful.
I loved it. Onto Pinball.
